Shipping and Animal Policies

Thank you for choosing Ginkgo's Exotics! Please read through our policy carefully, and reach out with any questions.

Shipping:

We ship Monday - Wednesday. Any sales after Wednesday at 12pm will be shipped the following Monday. This is to ensure that in the rare case of a shipping delay, the animal won't be held over the weekend. We can ship on your preferred shipping day, and can hold a purchased animal for shipment for up to two weeks (negotiable under individual circumstances).

All animals are shipped overnight in an insulated box with a heat/cold pack depending on the temperatures. We reserve the right to delay shipment if temperatures at any point along the shipment journey are under 40 degrees F or above 90.

We will ship to either hub or home. If shipping to home, someone MUST be home to receive the package or DOA policy is void. See below for DOA policy. Default shipping company is FedEx; UPS may be available upon request.

DOA policy:

Any animal DOA (dead on arrival) will be fully refunded, including the shipping cost. We must receive photo documentation of the deceased animal within an hour of the package being delivered/picked up. Animals are guaranteed to be healthy for four days (96 hours) to one week (168 hours) depending on the animal (inquire for details). If the animal passes within this time frame, buyer will receive a full refund. Photo documentation of deceased animal, enclosure, and details of husbandry practices may be required to be provided.

Animals are guaranteed to be healthy to the best of our knowledge. We inspect each animal before shipping, and any imperfections that are not stated in the ad listing must be declared to and accepted by the buyer before shipping. In the rare case that any health issues/concerns arise after purchase and before shipping, the buyer will be notified. The buyer will choose between the animal being held until being deemed 100% healthy again, or a full refund. A SICK, INJURED, OR OTHERWISE STRESSED ANIMAL WILL NOT BE SHIPPED. All animals must be evaluated to be 100% healthy before shipment. Animal health and safety is our top priority.

***Canada sales***
We export to Canada, with two-day shipping. This is the safest and most cost-effective way to ship. This may be negotiated with the buyer. Because of two-day shipment, we will only sell some animals to Canadian buyers. This list includes:
- toads, salmanders, and newts
- invertebrates
- colubrids
- agamids
Each inquiry from Canada will be considered on an individual basis, based on the animal wanted, the temperatures, and the location of the buyer.

--

All sales are final. If you are no longer able to care for the animal that you purchased, we will accept the animal back for no cost; buyer pays shipping. Animals we will not ship to Canada under any circumstances include most frogs, smaller lizards and geckos, turtles and tortoises, and other aquatic animals.

Other policy notes:

We reserve the right to ask for any documentation that we need to ensure that our animals are going to good homes. This includes photos of enclosures, photos of tank mates, proof of veterinary access, and proof of appropriate husbandry knowledge. For rescued/rehabilitated/'pet only' animals, documentation of proper enclosure is required.

Legal notes:

You are responsible for knowing the laws in your state. We will not ship animals that are prohibited in your state, and will not export animals to Canada that are prohibited. For US sales of North American natives, we require documentation of proper DNR licenses/permits if required by your state.

All animals are shipped with proper Lacey Act labeling (see https://www.fws.gov/law/lacey-act). This labeling includes common name (whatever common name we use in the ad posting), scientific species name, and quantity. Any other required paperwork, permits, or licensing for native animals or Canada exports will be included.

We have the proper DNR licensing and permits for our North American native animals. All documentation is available upon request. ALL FC NATIVE ANIMALS MUST REMAIN IN CAPTIVITY. Never, under any circumstances, release a captive animal into the outdoors. Even if the animal was initially wild caught, once it is in captivity, it must stay in captivity. We reserve the right to deny sales to anyone suspected of releasing animals, native or otherwise. This includes releasing FC native toads, frogs, and invertebrates into a garden or yard. Proper outdoor enclosures are acceptable.

Finally, we reserve the right to deny sales to anyone suspected of practicing unethical animal practices. This includes illegally releasing or capturing animals, poor husbandry practices, and other inhumane treatment.

We support USARK; their Best Management Practices, their mission and conservation statements, and any other beliefs laid out on their website https://usark.org/.
